An Early Evening of Inspiration!

Oct 31, 2008 by Susan | Add comment
Hello, friends!

Long time, no blog. Well, buckle your seatbelts. We're just waking up from our naps, and we're getting our creative on!

I wanted to make sure you knew about this! In celebration of the opening of the new 92nd Street Y TRIBECA, they're rocking 18 nights of inspiration. And we're rocking one of those nights.

It should be pretty fantastic, especially because the event is being moderated by our fantasy homeboy Ira Glass. Here's some [tos] trivia for you: [title of show] totally hearts Ira Glass and This American Life. When we were trying to figure out who would moderate this event, he was the one person upon which we all wholeheartedly agreed. We're so fortunate that he said 'YES'!

Come join us as we all get our inspiration on!

that on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 8pm, I'd be judging the Mr. HX pagaent alongside Hunter Bell, Robin Byrd and Michael Lucas...

I probably wouldn't have believed you.

But then I saw this.

And I realized that all my dreams have come to fruition.

See you there, Underpants!

What the Fuck Was That?

Oct 14, 2008 by Jeff | Add comment
So, I woke up this morning after this crazy dream where [title of show] made it to Broadway and we got to do our show at the Lyceum and there were all of these fans that were crazy about the show and they gave us gifts and sent us unbelieveable letters of support and love. Run-on sentences rule!

Wait. That all really happened didn't it?!!

So this is all indeed a big, fat juicy reality. We created this giant train and all these people are on board for the adventures. All I can say is, I'm gonna keep blazin' the trail and drive this bitch to every corner of the planet (selfishly so I can birdwatch all over the planet -- the show is a ruse for my avifauna needs).

Wheeee! Beginnings!!!!

Oct 12, 2008 by Hunter | Add comment
So it's pep rally day tossers. Lots o different feelings. Sad, happy, sappy, proud...all of it. I know some of you suckas feel things today too, so here's our prescription for the [tos]blues. I say grab your tosser peeps, grab your stuffed animals, or even your pillow or yourself, and at 7:30 EST (I think that's like 1:30am for you John K and all you Eurotossers...[tos]tralians I think it's already Thursday, so Sean and other world tossers play along when you can) anyhoo at 7:30 EST put on that [tos] cast recording press play and kick back and take the ride with us. And if you are so inclined, video up a moment of your [tos] pep rally in your home town and send it our way or post that shit so we can sees ya! It's a big day for us, but more than anything, it is a celebration for vampire killers everywhere! [tos] it up!

Oh and for those wondering will we still be blogging and [tos] show season 2ing?....HELL [tos] YES! This ride ain't over yet!

Lovely.

Oct 12, 2008 by Hunter | Add comment
supertosser Jordy sent this note our way. I love it and wanted to share:

Dear Hunter, Jeffrey, Susan, Heidi, Larry, Michael, Jen [Tepper] :-)
and everyone at [tos]:

“The most important things are the hardest things to say…words shrink things that seem limitless when they are in your head to no more than living size when they are brought out…” (S. King)

Word. Stephen King. Word.

Endings and beginnings. Big moments in life that can seem so overwhelming that all we can really do is to let every sort of feeling wash over us.

So many have journeyed with you. So many have shown you gratitude, love and support. Your story has become our own. And as you make your bows on the final show, just imagine this long, long chain of folks from all over the world, hand in hand with you.

Truth resonates. Truth will live on. You have spoken and sung the truth of countless lives.

[Title of Show] will live on. It may not be in ways we want or expect. But when there still are hearts that are passionate, loyal, creative, and brave enough to dream [Title of Show] will live on.

And we shall always be thankful to you, you crazy dudes.

jordy

That image of this long chain of tossers around the world hand in hand with us as we take a pep rally bow at the Lyceum...well...me likey. Me likey so very very much. Know that we will be thinking about all of you guys inside the Lyceum and out tomorrow. You guys are in our heads, our hearts, our bones...you are a part of today's shows and we love you guys.

Mosaic Mail!

Oct 10, 2008 by Hunter | Add comment
This was in the [tos] mail box and it is so cool!

Hey [title of show],
Like many other tossers, I can't make the trip to NYC before the "end." I
was going to come down in December, but alas, I'm stuck in St. Louis.

But, given my everlasting love for [title of show], I felt the least I could
do was provide some kick-ass photomosaic-style posters. They're made from
stills from a bunch of the YouTube videos, and, as part of my desire to be
"part of it all", a few pictures from when I performed Nine People's
Favorite Things with my friends at a revue (check out Hunter's right elbow
in the Playbills mosaic). Your sparkly little show has changed my life, and
wanting to be nine people's favorite thing has become a personal mantra for
me. Anything I can do to help you keep the dream alive all the way from St.
Louis, all you have to do is ask.

Rice Krispily yours,
David Lu!!

David these rock and are very classy. And just you creating and putting your tossomeness out into the world vampire-free...that right there keeps the ole dream alive. So...thanks...truly.

Rebecca Finnegan Rules Chicago!

Oct 10, 2008 by Susan | Add comment
Recently at the stage door, I've had the pleasure of meeting a number a Chicagoans who have flown in just to see [title of show]. My #1 favorite question to ax them: "If you're a Chicagoan + a theatre fan, then how much do you LOVE Rebecca Finnegan??!?!"

Answer: "SOOOOO MUCH!!!"

You remember Rebecca Finnegan, right? That's right...before I was making out with Heidi on Broadway, I used to eat out of that mouth...and vicey versey.

I wanted to give a gigatic shout-out to our gal Rebecca, who is currently tearing it up in Chicago in the new Tommy Tune/Marshall Brickman/Rick Elice musical TURN OF THE CENTURY! Here she is talking with Chicago Sun-Times theater critic Hedy Weiss about her latest project, being a Chicago actor and a New Wondertwin!

(I'm on a personal campaign to get Rebecca back to New York one way or t'other. I think we should do a special appearance...maybe at Joe's Pub. If you've ever wondered about the origins of Groundbeef in a Cup, this would be a dont-miss evening for you...)

Until then: Go, Rebecca, Go!!! [title of show] is so proud of you!!!

Walk a Mile in my Shoes...

Oct 06, 2008 by Susan | Add comment
Literally!

Check it out: Some of my shoes are being auctioned off for charity!

I've done a lot of crazy performances in these shoes--including some gonzo weirdness with Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell. Some of these are perfect for the big-footed gal (or average-footed drag queen) in your life!

And, best of all, it's all for charity!

(Thanks to Paul for eBaying this stuff! Grammy needs to learn how to use her robot box...maybe one day...)

T Minus 8 Shows and Counting...

Oct 06, 2008 by Susan | Add comment
That's right, Tossers. We have 8 more shows before we conclude at the Lyceum.

As you might imagine, we're all feeling lots of different feelings. Very rolly-coasty.

But it's hard to be sad when amazing emails like this one from SuperAussieTossy Sean are jumping around in your in-box!

Hey gang!

So I thought I'd give you all an update on the Inter[tos]ser Program:

The current stats stand as this:
14 Inter[tos]sers Adopted
16 Inter[tos]sers Waiting to be adopted (and growing)
That's 30 Inter[tos]sers all together so far...it's a third of my 90 quota!

I'm also going to say that we currently have 9 different countries represented through the program throughout Europe, Australasia and the Americas! Which is pretty cool, plus there are a stack of States in the US that are being represented too! Ohio is very popular.
(Of course it is, Sean...Ohio RULES! - Ed.)

I've just made a massive post on supertossers.com about adoption, so hopefully that sees the rest of the [tos]sers adopted, I'm also trying to get them to not leave it til the last minute and get them to come before the 12th.

Anna from Holland helped come up with the idea, I happened to have the free time and the blog to get it up and running. I thought it was something cute that maybe one or two people would find amusing. The response has been more than I could imagine, and almost everyone that has applied for both [inter] and [foster] have all tacked something into their messages such as 'This is the funnest idea ever'. Thank you for being so awesome and taking the time to sign and chat and take photos and whatever!

I'm glad I could help you guys out a lil and have some fun along the way- it made my school holidays (which are now over) lots of fun! (As did filming that last episode of my show!)

I wish I could be there to ROCK Broadway with you, believe me I am literally jumping out of my body in excitement for December though, it is going to be magical! I can't wait to experience a New York Christmas and catch up with all the [tos]sers I've met through my youtube series, and the Inter[tos]ser Program and Facebook. Everyone (including yourselves) has just been so nice and open and welcoming...that is far from what I thought New York would be like- I thought I'd feel very lost and alone in a big city. Now I'll just feel lost- but at least have a few contacts to call and say "HELP I'm lost come find me!" ;)

Sean <3's [tos]
Sean <3's [tos]sers
Sean <3's NY

PS: Here's the latest episode of the show if you haven't seen it yet :) Which has had an amazing response from the viewers! Part 2 is coming soon :)

Sean:

This is absolutely amazing. It has been such a great JOY to participate in the Adopt a Tosser program. You and Anna invented something that has brought a global community of people together in such a fun, creative way. I love seeing the adopters at the stage door going that extra mile for their adoptees with pictures, posters and programs. Imagine being the tosser somewhere out in the hinterland, and you open your mailbox and receive all that yummy [tos] goodness! That's gotta feel good!

I am very inspired by your creativity, resourcefulness and positivity, Sean.
Sincerely,
Susan B

Reminder: Keep it [master] Classy!!

Oct 05, 2008 by Susan | Add comment
Don't forget...!

On Sunday October 12 from 11am – 1:30pm, I will be teaching a song interpretation class at the Broadway Artists Alliance.

Just a little background: Broadway Artists Alliance is a not-for-profit musical theatre training program for ages 10-21. They provide professional level training in the musical theatre arts for promising young artists by affording them the opportunity to study with current Broadway performers and directors who will challenge their development. There is an application process for all classes, and only a limited number of students can attend, so shake a leg!!!

You can find more information here!

There's a few slots left! Won't you join us?!!!
